The GMC Acadia is a full size crossover sport utility SUV from General Motors. The Acadia shares the same base as the Chevy Traverse and Buick Enclave all which use the GM Lambda platform, the basic frame and seating space which allows 7 to 8 passenger third row seating in GM crossovers. Interior upgrades include perforated leather seating and unique wood trim. Additionally, the Acadia also has a standard OnStar system and six different airbags equipped in the vehicle. Acadia is also available as a Denali with a more powerful engine and increased horsepower torque. Top competitors have been the Traverse and Enclave but this nice family style SUV also competes many other small SUV type crossover vehicles on the market. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration gave the GMC Acadia an overall safety rating of five out of five stars, with five stars in the frontal and side crash tests and four stars in the rollover test.
