The GMC Yukon and its rebadged Chevrolet Tahoe counterpart, are full-size SUVs from General Motors. The name Tahoe refers to the rugged and scenic area surrounding Lake Tahoe in the western United States. while the name Yukon refers to the Yukon territory of northern Canada. GMC extended its size with the Yukon XL. The GMC Denali nameplate started as the luxury version of the Yukon for the 1999 model year. The Denali is available on both standard and XL versions and is the top-of-the-line trim in the GMC Yukon lineup. Denali name was shared with the Escalade, with only the front fascia and lower side body panels differing from the standard Yukon. The GMC Yukon XL and Suburban are also similar. The main differences between the Yukon XL and Suburban are styling and price. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration gave the GMC Yukon an overall safety rating of four out of five stars.
