The Tesla Model X is a electric mid-size luxury crossover SUV produced by Tesla, Inc. It is heavily based on the Tesla Model S full-sized sedan and notable for its falcon-wing doors which are hinged at the roof rather than the side. According to Tesla, its falcon wing doors have sensors that detect the presence of people and objects and and stop moving. Both the Model X and Model S are produced at the Tesla Factory in Fremont, California. Tesla is fighting competition from EVs from Ford, Volkswagen, and GM as well as new China-based companies including NIO and XPeng as the industry shifts towards EV electric vehicles. Like the S, the Model X is very quick and handles well. As for reliability, Model X is said to last 300,000 to 500,000 miles with good habits and proper maintenance. On average, the Model X should provide 10 to 15 years of trouble-free use. It has a five-star rating in federal NCAP testing and was the first car to receive a perfect safety rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). |
