But cost-conscious drivers have at least had a small handful of budget-priced vehicles to choose from, but even that meager selection has been dwindling in recent years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And now, with the news that&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.caranddriver.com\/news\/a61751678\/mitsubishi-mirage-officially-dead\/\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Mitsubishi is officially discontinuing<\/a>&nbsp;the Mirage hatchback and Mirage G4 sedan, there only remains one \u2013 just one \u2013 new car on the market that is priced below $20,000.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\"><p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Mitsubishi Mirage&#39;s Death Means Sub-$20K New Cars Are Almost Extinct <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/mrTGhmR8Zf\">https:\/\/t.co\/mrTGhmR8Zf<\/a><\/p>&mdash; Car and Driver (@CARandDRIVER) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/CARandDRIVER\/status\/1820882646416691536?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">August 6, 2024<\/a><\/blockquote><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Yes, the only truly \u201ccheap\u201d car left on the market come the 2025 model year will be the Nissan Versa, with its $17,820 base price; the Mirage hatchback currently comes in at $18,015 and the Mirage G4 sedan $19,115, but as of next year they will be a distant memory, according to Mitsubishi&#8217;s North American spokesman.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Mirage is being discontinued in the U.S. market, and there will not be a 2025 model,&#8221; he said. &#8220;Production will cease late this year, and we expect to have sufficient dealer stock to last into the summer of 2025.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To those that follow the automotive industry, this announcement on the behalf of the Japanese-based vehicle manufacturer should come as no surprise, as it was reported in 2023 that the company was considering putting its Mirage models out to pasture due to the fact that sales have been steadily decreasing.
