File photo: VanderWolf Images, licensed.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">WASHINGTON, D.C. &#8211; The Biden Administration\u2019s Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), in its continued efforts to entice consumers to adopt electric vehicles (EVs) as their preferred mode of transportation over internal combustion engine-based cars and trucks, released their list of new EVs hitting the market that are\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.caranddriver.com\/news\/g43675128\/cars-eligible-for-ev-tax-credit\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">eligible for the agency\u2019s full $7,500 tax credit<\/a>, which applies to select models under the $80,000 price point.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The list below focuses on new models eligible for the federal tax credit, as opposed to current models that were already qualified; the list of inductees is shorter this year than usual, as the EPA\u2019s eligibility requirements have been tightened, in addition to new and stricter battery sourcing rules that went into effect back in January 1, 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Note: Hybrid models are also eligible for federal tax credits, but this article will be concentrating on EVs, listed by manufacturer in alphabetical order:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>2024 Acura ZDX: <\/strong>The brand&#8217;s first electric vehicle, the tax credit covers both its 340-horsepower front-wheel and 500 horsepower all-wheel-drive models, which have range estimates of 288 and 325 miles, respectively.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>2025 Cadillac Lyriq: <\/strong>The single-motor version offers an estimated range of up to 314 miles, and up to 307 miles in the dual-motor version.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>2025 Cadillac Optiq: <\/strong>Comes in a dual-motor format that provides 300 horsepower and an estimated 300 miles of range.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>2025 Chevrolet Blazer EV: <\/strong>This offering has several different models within its lineup, ranging from the new entry-level LT trim, an AWD version, a next-level RS in FWD and all-wheel-drive trim, the rear-wheel-drive version and the top-trim SS, all of which are eligible for the tax credit.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>2025 Chevrolet Equinox EV: <\/strong>Includes the entry-level 1LT trim with front-wheel drive, 213 horsepower and 319 miles of range and the all-wheel-drive version with 288 horsepower and 285 miles of range.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>2025 Chevrolet Silverado EV: <\/strong>Various models and battery back options allow this EV pickup to have impressive range estimates as high as 400 miles while traveling at a consistent 75 MPH.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>2025 Ford F-150 Lightning: <\/strong>This version looks nearly identical to its gas-powered brethren, and offers between 230 and 320 miles of range; however, this model has drawn criticism for drastic decreases in range when towing via its trailer hitch.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>2025 Genesis Electrified GV70: <\/strong>Uses two electric motors to generate 483 horsepower and offers an EPA-estimated 236 miles of range.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>2024 Honda Prologue: <\/strong>Offers front and all-wheel-drive versions, with the latter providing 288 horsepower and between 273 and 296 miles of estimated range.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>2025 Hyundai Ioniq 5: <\/strong>Single and dual-motor versions offer power ranging from 168 horsepower up to 641 horses, and a slightly larger battery for the 2025 model ups the estimated range to 318 miles.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>2026 Kia EV6: <\/strong>The 641-hp GT offers a mere 231 miles of range, while the EV6 trim is estimated to increase that range to 313 miles.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>2026 Kia EV9:<\/strong> Different battery size options allow for ranges varying between 230 miles and 304 miles; in addition, reviews indicate that this model is one of the fastest-charging EVs currently on the market.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>2025 Tesla Cybertruck: <\/strong>The single and dual-motor versions of Elon Musk&#8217;s infamous retro-futuristic EV pickup are now eligible for the $7,500 federal tax credit; however, the tri-motor CyberBeast model is not, due to exceeding the credit&#8217;s $80,000 price tag cap.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>2025 Tesla Model 3: <\/strong>Includes the ear-drive model with 363 miles of range, the all-wheel drive model with 341 miles, and the Performance model \u2013 which can hit 60 mph in just 2.8 seconds \u2013 with an estimated 296 miles per charge.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>2025 Tesla Model Y: <\/strong>The rear-wheel-drive model has 260 miles of estimated range, the AWD version has a 330-mile estimate, and the Performance offers 303 miles.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>2025 Model X: <\/strong>Despite starting at $81,680, the fact that that price includes a destination fee allows the base model \u2013 with an EPA-estimated driving range of 335 miles \u2013 to qualify for the tax credit.
