Musk\u2019s&nbsp;stated goal of Tesla in developing the Cybertruck is to provide a<em> \u201csustainable energy substitute\u201d<\/em> for the roughly 6,500 fossil-fuel-powered trucks sold per day in the United States.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Tesla\/status\/1680121747910148099\" target=\"_blank\">Tesla announced<\/a> the successful completion of the first model of their metallic, wedge-shaped Cybertruck on Saturday on Musk\u2019s Twitter social media platform. However, the announcement was tempered by the fact that when Musk first showed off a prototype of the vehicle in 2019 \u2013 which included an <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=udxR5rBq_Vg\" target=\"_blank\">infamously botched demonstration<\/a> of its \u201c<em>bulletproof<\/em>\u201d glass windows \u2013&nbsp;he initially claimed that production was due to start in 2021.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<pre class=\"wp-block-preformatted\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"900\" height=\"500\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/udxR5rBq_Vg\" title=\"YouTube video player\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" allowfullscreen=\"\"><\/iframe><\/pre>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Despite the fact that the Cybertruck is now in full-on production mode, Musk told shareholders at Tesla&#8217;s annual meeting in May that the unconventional design of the vehicle may result in challenges in terms of how quickly the company can churn them out. Chief among the issues facing the Cybertruck, Musk said, is the fact that its body is constructed out of stainless steel, which can be costly and hard to work with.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>It\u2019s going to be hard to make it cost affordable because it is a new car, new manufacturing method,\u201d he said. \u201cIn the grand scheme of things, relative to the production rate of all the other cars we make, it will be small.
