TOLEDO, OH – Following the tentative agreement to end the strike between United Auto Workers and Stellantis \u2013 the parent company of Jeep, Chrysler, Dodge, and numerous other automotive brands \u2013 a document leaked on social media from the ratification process that lays out Stellantis\u2019 production plans for the near future, including how the automaker is slated to transition many of the trucks it offers into electric vehicles. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

One of the most notable facts gleaned from this leaked document is the fact that the popular and iconic Jeep Wrangler will be transitioning to fully electric in 2028<\/a> with the new J70 model; in addition, a hybrid version of this vehicle will be offered as well, which will feature a secondary gas-powered motor to generate electricity for its battery when traveling long distances. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Internal combustion engine powered versions of the Wrangler will continue to be offered by Jeep into 2028, at which time they will be phased out in favor of their electric successors; the current 4xe plug-in-hybrid model will be receiving an upgrade in 2025 before it too is phased out in favor of the J70. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the leaked document, the Jeep Gladiator will also receive an upgraded plug-in hybrid model in 2025, but it appears there are no plans to continue to manufacture this particular model beyond 2028. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

It was also revealed that Stellantis may be planning to invest $1.5 billion into a factory in Belvedere, Illinois, to manufacture electric-powered midsize trucks in 2027. It is believed these models will include both Jeep and Dodge brands with an anticipated production run of between 80,000 and 100,000 units on an annual basis. Stellantis Is also believed to be building a new battery plant in Belvedere as well, investing $3.2 billion in order for the company to adhere to its current road map for transitioning to all-electric models. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

As for the EV transition of Stellantis\u2019 other brands, an electric Ram 1500 REV will be rolling off the assembly line in 2024, reports say.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
