The proposal also would have required automakers to ramp up their EV production to 60 percent of all new output by the year 2030 \u2013 and 67 percent by 2032 \u2013 in order to adhere to the more stringent emissions standards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\"><p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">US to soften tailpipe rules, slow EV transition through 2030 <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/rhC4rykstR\">https:\/\/t.co\/rhC4rykstR<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/gM0ctBnmj0\">pic.twitter.com\/gM0ctBnmj0<\/a><\/p>&mdash; Reuters (@Reuters) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Reuters\/status\/1759732094333493390?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">February 20, 2024<\/a><\/blockquote><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">However, it would appear that the Biden admin has taken note of the concerns of auto manufacturers, the UAW, and consumers, and it is now expected that the EPA has amended their proposal to slow the pace of emissions requirements throughout 2030, which will now lower the required number of EVs manufactured to under the 60 percent threshold.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The UAW had previously said that the EPA\u2019s proposal should be changed so that new standards are implemented more gradually and over a greater period of time.
