The BMW Z3 is a two-seater sports car produced by BMW from 1995 to 2002. It was the first mass-produced BMW roadster since the BMW 507 in the 1950s. The Z3 was released as a response to the success of the Mazda MX-5 Miata. The Z3 featured a classic roadster design with a long hood, short rear end, and a low-slung profile. It was available in both convertible and coupe body styles. The convertible version had a soft-top roof that could be manually or electronically operated, while the coupe had a fixed hardtop. Over the years, the Z3 underwent several updates and revisions. It was initially introduced with four-cylinder engines, and later, six-cylinder engines were added to the lineup, including the powerful M versions. The Z3 M Roadster and M Coupe were high-performance variants equipped with more powerful engines, sportier suspensions, and upgraded brakes. The BMW Z3 gained significant popularity and was even featured in the James Bond film Golden Eye in 1995, where it played a prominent role. Its success helped establish BMW as a strong competitor in the roadster segment. While the production of the BMW Z3 ended in 2002, its legacy lives on in the form of subsequent BMW roadster models, such as the BMW Z4.
