The Cadillac XTS is a full-size luxury sedan that was produced by General Motors under the Cadillac brand from 2013 to 2019. It was positioned above the Cadillac CTS in the brand's lineup and offered a spacious interior, advanced technology, and a comfortable ride. The XTS was available with a choice of two engines, front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive, and a variety of features and options, including a rear-seat entertainment system, premium audio system, and a range of driver-assist technologies. The XTS was a competitor in the full-size luxury sedan market and some of its main competitors included the Lincoln Continental, Lexus LS, BMW 7 Series, Mercedes-Benz S-Class and Audi A8. These models were known for offering a similar level of luxury, comfort, and technology as the XTS, but with a different set of strengths and weaknesses, so customers had a variety of options to choose from. In general, the XTS was known for having average to above-average reliability. According to a J.D. Powers Vehicle Dependability Study, the XTS scored well in its segment, ranking above the industry average for reliability. As far as safety, XTS received generally good ratings from independent organizations during its production run. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) rated the 2013-2019 XTS models as having an overall rating of 5 out of 5 stars. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) rated 2013-2019 XTS models with a Good rating, the highest possible, in the IIHS crash tests.
