The GMC Envoy is a Mid-Size SUV from the GMC marque of General Motors. It was introduced as a high end version of the Jimmy and was restyled. After a short hiatus the Envoy nameplate was phased out when the unibody 7 to 8 passenger Acadia and 5 passenger Terrain replaced it. The Envoy sold alongside the Acadia for two years. Edmunds credited Envoy XL for strong six or eight cylinder power, clean interior design and plenty of passenger and cargo room. Consumer Guide reported Envoy the best choice among GM built midsize Crossover SUVs as well as credited Envoy truck tough engineering a plus for towing and the 3rd row more comfortable than most midsize SUVs. Popular competitors have been the Chevy TrailBlazer, as mentioned, the GMC Acadia, Chevrolet Uplander, and Saturn Outlook. Envoy retains good resale value, has good gas mileage; some of the best towing capability for it's class, and has been extremely reliable. Based on the J.D. Power website, the average customer rating and reliability rating of this SUV is 84/100.
