The GMC Terrain is a midsize Crossover SUV from General Motors. The Terrain is based on the GM Theta platform and is smallest SUV made by GMC. It fits under the GMC Acadia which is slightly larger. The Terrain is extremely similar - a near-twin to the Chevrolet Equinox but has standard features and body panels that are different from that of the Chevrolet Equinox. The Mazda CX-5, Subaru Forester and Toyota RAV4 have similar looks and are close in size too. Terrains Reliability Rating is 3.5 out of 5.0, which ranks it 22nd out of 26 for compact SUVs. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the Terrain gets the highest-possible 5-star rating for overall safety, including 5 stars for both frontal and side crash protection.
