The Honda Element is a compact crossover SUV that was manufactured by Honda from 2003 to 2011. It features a unique boxy design, removable rear seats, and a clamshell tailgate. It was marketed as a versatile and practical vehicle, particularly for outdoor enthusiasts and pet owners. Top competitors included the RAV4, the Forester, the Xterra, and the Compass. However, since the discontinuation of the Element in 2011, its direct competitors have evolved and expanded to include models such as the Soul, the HR-V, the Renegade, and the Trax. The Element is generally considered to be a reliable vehicle. It has a reputation for durability and longevity, and many owners have reported driving their Elements for hundreds of thousands of miles with minimal issues. When crash-tested by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), Honda Element received an overall rating of five stars (out of five) for both the front and side crash tests, as well as a four-star rating for the rollover test. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) also tested the Element and gave it a Good rating (the highest rating) in the moderate overlap front, side, and roof strength tests. Element was discontinued in early 2011 at which time the average MSRP was $23,450. |
