The Hyundai Santa Fe is a mid size crossover SUV produced by South Korean manufacturer Hyundai since the year 2000. It is based on the Hyundai Sonata platform and is named after the city of Santa Fe, New Mexico. The Santa Fe Sport is a little smaller, and so it only offers seating for 5. The Santa Fe has been so popular that at times, Hyundai had trouble supplying the demand. The Santa Fe quickly became the best seller and contributed to popularity and success of Hyundai. Santa Fe falls between the smaller compact crossover Tucson and the larger, yet related luxury crossover SUV the Veracruz. Top competitors are the Sorento, CR-V, Rogue, RAV4, Forester, Grand Cherokee, Tucson and Sportage. The Hyundai Santa Fe Reliability Rating is 4.0 out of 5.0, which ranks it 2nd out of 26 for midsize SUVs. As far as safety, the NHTSA gave the Santa Fe an overall safety rating of five out of five stars. Santa Fe was discontinued in the United States in 2023 after the 2022 model year at which time the average MSRP was $32,800.
