The Wrangler was originally created for war when the U.S. Army asked all of the American automakers to invent a general-purpose, quarter-ton recon vehicle to be used in World War II. Wrangler has been complemented with long-wheelbase versions for the Wrangler Unlimited. Its main competitors have been the Bronco and 4Runner. Wranglers Reliability Rating is 3.5 out of 5.0, which ranks it 25th out of 26 for compact SUVs.
