2016 KIA Forte Koup

The Kia Forte Koup - pronounced c oupe - was a compact two-door coupe that was produced by the South Korean automaker Kia from 2009 to 2016. It was based on the Kia Forte sedan, and was designed to be a sportier and more stylish alternative to the four-door model. The Forte Koup was offered with a choice of two engines: a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that produced 156 horsepower, and a more powerful 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine that produced 173 horsepower. Both engines were paired with a six-speed manual or six-speed automatic transmission. The Koup had a sleek and modern design that was highlighted by its sloping roofline and sporty front fascia. It was available in three different trim levels: the base EX, the mid-level SX, and the top-of-the-line SX Turbo. The SX Turbo model featured a turbocharged version of the 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine that produced 201 horsepower and was paired with a six-speed manual or a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. Standard features on the Forte Koup included air conditioning, power windows and locks, a four-speaker audio system, and Bluetooth connectivity. Higher trim levels added features such as a touch screen infotainment system, leather upholstery, and a sunroof. The Kia Forte Koup competed with other compact coupes such as the Honda Civic Coupe, Hyundai Elantra Coupe, and Scion tC. While it was generally well-received for its sporty styling, it faced tough competition in the shrinking market for two-door coupes, and Kia eventually discontinued it after the 2016 model year.
