The Lexus SC is a luxury sports coupe first introduced by Lexus, the luxury vehicle division of the Japanese automaker Toyota, in 1991. The SC stands for Sport Coupe. It features a front-engine, rear-wheel-drive design and seating for up to four passengers. The first-generation SC debuted as the V8-powered SC 400 in 1991, and the I6-powered SC 300 was added in 1992. Both first-generation models were produced until 2000. The second-generation model, the SC 430, went into production in 2001. The SC 430 features a hardtop convertible design and a V8 engine. SC was well-regarded for its luxury and comfort, it was not intended to be a high-performance sports car like some other models in the Lexus lineup. The focus was more on providing a refined and comfortable driving experience rather than aggressive performance. Top competitors of the SC are the Benz SL-Class, 6 Series Bmer, Jaguar XK, A5 and even the Porsche 911. SC was discontinued in 2010 at which time the MSRP started at $68,380.
