The Mercedes-Benz Sprinter is crossover minivan or rugged caravan built by Daimler AG of Germany to serve as a commercial van, chassis cab, minibus, and pickup truck. Sprinter is built from complete knock down kits by Freightliner although they are primarily marketed by Mercedes-Benz. The model designations for the first generation Sprinter are W901, W902, W903, W904 and W905, depending on the gross weight rating. Sprinter is one of the more popular passenger and conversion vans used in business as well as many movies which has only contributed to their popularity. It can be configured to meet the specific needs of the user. It is available in a variety of sizes, from the short-wheelbase to the long-wheelbase. It has a maximum payload of 5,000 pounds and a maximum towing capacity of 7,500 pounds. It has an average fuel economy of up to 24 mpg in the city and 30 mpg on the highway. The gas-powered Sprinter van was discontinued in the United States after the 2023 model year, however, Diesel-powered Sprinter vans will continue to be sold.
