The Mercury Sable is a four door sedan sold by the Mercury division of Ford Motor Company. The Sable was a milestone design for both Mercury and the entire automotive industry, as well as a very influential vehicle in the marketplace, with Mercury assembling well over two million sables from 1985 through 2005. The Sable was named to the Car and Driver magazine ten best list three times. The Sable, like its twin the Ford Taurus, is a good car. It's roomy and comfortable, with a decent ride and spacious rear seat and trunk. Handling is sound but not agile, and the brakes produced long stopping distances in tests. The engine is well known for its dependability and longevity.
