It beats nearly all other hybrid cars in fuel efficiency and boasts a huge cargo hold. There's also ample, comfortable seating space and a long list of features. The EPA and California Air Resources Board (CARB) rate the Prius as among the cleanest vehicles sold in America based on smog-forming emissions. The Prius first went on sale in Japan in 1997 and was subsequently introduced worldwide in 2000. The Prius is sold in almost 80 countries and regions throughout the world, with its largest markets being those of Japan and the United States. Competitors for the Prius have been the 330e, Malibu Hybrid, Volt, C-Max Hybrid, Fusion Hybrid, Accord Hybrid, and Niro, all of which are considered spacious alternative to the Prius.
