The Volkswagen Beetle is a compact car that was produced by the German automaker Volkswagen from 1938 to 2003. It was then reintroduced in 2011 and was produced until 2019. The Beetle is one of the most recognizable and iconic vehicles in automotive history, and is often associated with the counterculture movement of the 1960s. The Beetle is known for its distinctive rounded shape, which became a symbol of the era in which it was first produced. Over the years, the Beetle evolved to include updated features and improved performance, but its unmistakable design remained relatively unchanged. The Volkswagen Beetle offered a combination of affordability, practicality, and quirky style that made it appealing to a wide range of consumers. Top competitors were other compact vehicles such as the Mini Cooper, Fiat 500, Honda Fit, Nissan Cube and Scion iQ. Although it is no longer in production, the Beetle continues to be remembered as one of the most iconic cars of all time. Volkswagen discontinued the New Beetle in 2019 at which time the average MSRP was $25,290.
