UP.FIT, a vehicle customization company specializing in converting Tesla electric vehicles (EVs) into next generation police and fleet vehicles, has announced – due to popular demand, they have plans to begin upgrading Cybertrucks into law enforcement cruisers, with the result looking like something that Robocop would use to patrol the streets of Old Detroit for criminal scum in the near future.
With a history of offering upgraded Teslas for police duty – they have also converted the Model 3, Model Y, Model S, and Model X – UP.FIT representatives noted that the first law enforcement Cybertrucks are expected to be delivered before the end of 2024.
The additions to the huge stainless steel EV pickup truck are slated to be lights – both the usual red and blue roof-mounted ones as well as fender-mounted spotlights – sirens, a public address (PA) system, along with upgraded radio and computer systems, a front push bar for ramming vehicles and performing PIT maneuvers, and 18-inch forged wheels.
Other options customers can choose will include prisoner partitions, weapons storage, and enclosures for K9 units. Modifications for off-road usage can also be made, including beefier brakes and tires.
UP.FIT is also highlighting the Cybertruck’s stainless steel exoskeleton as a selling point, claiming that the vehicle is their “most ballistics capable” and can withstand some degree of small arms fire. The company also touts the truck’s handling and driver assistance technology as useful aspects for law enforcement duty, and revealed that the Cybertruck can also be modified for tactical, military, and search and rescue operations.
Since announcing its police Cybertruck, UP.FIT stated they have received “substantial interest” from law enforcement agencies across the country. Currently, the company has not quoted a price on the police Cybertruck, but noted that their other law enforcement Teslas average between 270 to 300 miles of range and cost approximately $90,000 each.
