Some car owners are driving their car more than 50 miles daily, while others drive their car only a short distance daily. To what extent does the car mileage affect the used car price? Car manufacturers also mention the mileage in the warranty they offer.

In my country the mileage only works for luxury cars and most of the ties a person who wants to buy a car only sees the car engine and its parts, in my country most cars are older than 5 years so it is well known that their mileages are high, but the price of the car depends on the year and the condition of the car not on the mileage.

I can answer this based on my experience in India. Here the car mileage matters a lot. Well, car mileage in technical terms have two definitions. Number one is how much the car can run per litre of fuel. Number 2 would be how much distance the car has run in the entire life span. The number one definition is seen by the all buyer whether they are buying a new car or used one. Number two is very important in India while buying a second hand car. The price of the used car is related to it's mileage. If the car has run a lot of kilometres, prices tend to decrease.

We have a Toyota Innova 2012 model. We have put it on sale last month. Then we changed our mind and thought not of selling it for few more years. It's in excellent condition. One of our friend has the same model of same year. But he got lesser amount quotation for his car compared to us. Even his car is in excellent condition but has run a lot more than ours on road. So, definitely for a used car sale, mileage becomes a vital factor. The lesser mileage means that the car is less used and so can fetch more price.

The general assumption and rule of thumb when considering mileage and resale value of a used car is that with every ticking of the odometer, there is an increased wear and tear on the engine of the car. Therefore, a car with a high mileage would he highly underpriced than the one with a lowered mileage.

A car's mileage greatly affect the cost of a car to be resold either to dealers or even individuals. This is the case because high mileage denotes that the car has been in consistent use which might cause some important part of such car to wear off or not function properly like the brake pads, tyres and others.Well, when these parts are replaced, I believe the car should be up in value.

But I believe that mileage is not the only necessary factor to check and decide if you should buy a particular used car or not. Maintenance history also holds water as a prerequisite to consider before deciding to buy a new car. There are cars that have huge mileage but good maintenance history. They would still perform better than a car with low mileage and poor maintenance.

It actually depends on who used a car before you come in to buy. A car used by a bank or a major financial institution that retires cars might have huge mileage but soundly maintained. My dad bought a car from a bank on auction. The mileage was huge though but for the first two years of the car's usage with my dad, there was no reason for any repairs apart from routine maintenance. The previous owners replaced all parts with quality spares anytime they were due.

I would totally agree that mileage is not the only important thing for making a decision. There are many other points too like the maintenance history, accident history of the car etc. Nevertheless, the car mileage does play an important role in determining the price of the used cars.

You even mentioned another important variable. Accident history. Some cars can have low mileage but a very huge accident rate. A car that has had much accidents would certainly have more wear and tear to be considered for purchase.

Some car buyers use the mileage to take decision when buying a car though it might not be the only important thing for making a decision. But it is always considered

I agree that though the mileage is a determining factor, the other factors weigh in too to make a decision about buying the car. The maintenance of the car is a key factor too.. Some cars with low mileage might not be well kept by the previous owner. However, a car with more mileage might be in a better maintained condition. Regular maintenance does keep the car healthy and running for longer.

It depends if the car is used for work purposes. Then it could achieve this in a short time frame. If it is for family use it will be achievable in a long time because you do not do much transportation as someone who is working to transport people or merchandise.

It is obvious that the mileage is just one of the variables to consider when buying a car but it should not be used as a definitive variable. A little bit of investigation into maintenance records and accident history would help you make a more balanced decision if to buy a car or not.

The car mileage has a great impact on the price of a used car and that is why a car with higher mileage would have increased wear and tear on the essential component of the car and that will potentially lower the value of that car as well.

The impact of mileage on a used car's price varies. Generally, lower mileage suggests less wear and tear, which also means higher price. However, other factors like maintenance history, model popularity, and overall condition also affects price. Mileage serves as a significant indicator but is not the only thing that affects price.

It depends because the car company that is renting cars is providing the same price for renting cars especially if it is new or used for some months, what you say impacts when someone sells a car to someone else.

There are several factors as to why the car value retains or increases. And most are relying on the number of mileage to determine the wear and tear.

It depends also on the street condition because in some countries there are bad street condition that same number of mileage could differ from vehicule to another regarding the street condition.
