Many car manufacturers increase their car prices in January every year. Hence many car dealers are aggressively marketing their cars in December, mentioning that the price will increase in January. Due to the festive season people are also comparatively free in December. Do dealers in your area announce deals in December?

In my country the price of cars are ranged by the dealers and the brokers, most of the times car price increase when the foreign exchange rate increases, but there is not specific time for price change.

They do this January increase because the vat and taxation are announced for the new year in December and will be applicable in January so if the VAT increases then the old prices will let them pay from their pocket money so it is not an arbitrary choice to choose January to increase prices.

There are always deals and discount in December for cars and many people are always waiting till this period to buy which then reduces drastically in January. Also, when new models are out, the old ones become cheaper and there are also increased sales during this period too as some people will want to buy the new model while some others will go for the cheaper old models which are then affordable for them.

January is when everyone reviews the previous years and sets target for the new year. I also believe there's a widespread assumption that people have leftover money after the new year so car dealers try to get as much money as they can from buyers.

It is the reverse in my country. Prices of cars fall sharply in January because the people are just trying to set their priorities for the year. And buying cars doesn't come in that month. Demand for car falls in January and prices fall.

I totally disagree with you except if there is sharp discrepancy in forex. In January, people hardly buy luxurious cars. The demand of automobiles usually skyrocket in November and December periods. In January, people start setting priorities which buying of car can hardly be a priority.

Traditionally, the busiest months for car sales in America tend to be in the late summer and early fall. Specifically, August and September are often regarded as peak months for car sales. This period coincides with several factors that contribute to increased car purchases:
  1. End of Summer Sales: Dealerships often offer promotions, discounts, and clearance sales to clear out current model year inventory and make room for new models, enticing buyers with attractive deals.
  2. New Model Releases: Automakers typically unveil new models in late summer or early fall, sparking interest and driving sales as customers explore the latest offerings.
  3. Back-to-School Season: Families often consider purchasing vehicles during this time as they prepare for the school year, needing reliable transportation for commuting, dropping off kids, and various activities.
  4. Labor Day Weekend: The Labor Day holiday weekend in early September is a popular time for sales events, drawing in many potential buyers looking for deals.
While August and September are generally the busiest, other months, like March (when new license plates come out in some states), May, and June, can also see increased car sales due to various promotions, incentives, and changing seasons. Additionally, year-end sales events in December can attract buyers seeking to take advantage of year-end deals and incentives to meet sales targets.

This isn't same for my country Nigeria. In January, people hardly think about buyingcars. The demand of car is ostl6 in the festive period mostly December period. People hardly think about car buying in the new year

There is no consistent pattern of price increases in January each year in the Philippines. It changes based on industry and market conditions. However, I've heard that certain automobile manufacturers in India had to hike their prices in January due to the impact of inflation on the economy. Higher production costs and a decline in the value of the local currency most likely caused the increase. Other variables that could cause price increases include increased product demand and geopolitical instability in the supply chain.

Based on my perspective, it is true that car prices increases in January but it is due to different kinds of factors such as new model release and also changes in demand. I noticed that this trend as being like that for a very long time and it has been consistent over the years but we are also know that the dealership also offer incentives and promotion at the end each year. They do this to clear out the old inventory.
