They are assembled at the Castle Bromwich Assembly in Birmingham, United Kingdom. The first generation of the series, the XK8, replaced the XJS. Production of the XK ceased in 2014 without a replacement model. According to Jaguar, major competitors include the Lexus SC 430, Cadillac XLR, BMW 650i and Mercedes-Benz SL500.
