The Jeep Patriot is a compact crossover sport utility vehicle SUV introduced for 2007 by the Jeep marque of Chrysler. It slots below the Liberty alongside the slightly more expensive Compass in the Jeep lineup. It is said to be one of the least expensive SUVs in North America and one of the lowest priced SUV crossovers to date. Patriot utilizes the same platform as the discontinued Dodge Caliber hatchback, an example of closeness to a more compact crossover. Patriot has earned the top safety pick award from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. Top Key competitors have been the Trax, Compass, HRV, Sportage, CX5 and Outlander. As far as reliability, Patriots reliability rating is 4.0 out of 5.0, which ranks it 15th out of 26 for compact SUVs. Patriot was discontinued after the 2017 model year at which time the average MSRP was $22,580. The base price was $18,995, and the top-of-the-line Latitude model had an MSRP of $26,495.
